VAUDEs reputation for excellence in mountain sports equipment has been helped by the fact that most of our employees themselves are enthusiastic about mountain sports, and the experience from their adventures flows directly into our products. We are open to new ideas and committed to both innovation and defining new trends in the market.
Continuous improvement is only possible when the entire product development process is included. For us here at VAUDE, basic research is not only an investment in outstanding product quality, but also in your safety as a consumer.
We challenge the status quo and form our own conclusions, with results that flow directly into our product development. Understanding the mechanisms of how man and gear perform together translates directly into successful design and development.
No material can bypass our testing laboratory in VAUDE HQ, Tettnang where it's thoroughly examined, abraded, shaken up, and torn at. Only when it has successfully passed this stringent testing is it released for manufacturing use. But even then it cannot evade the tough standards of our laboratory. To ensure highest quality control we carry out regular random tests that guarantee quality maintenance of the entire production process.

For activities with lightweight loads and those who value optimal back ventilation.
The open, stable space between the backpack and the mesh enclosure ensure an ideal 3-way back ventilation. Even when the back pack is fully loaded, the space keeps its form and the tension of the mesh back remains constant.
Backpacks with the e-LINK system have a special buckle that allows them to be linked into an Edelrid climbing harness. The hipbelt is detached and the e-LINK buckle is hooked into a webbing loop on the harness.
The backpack fits just as safely and securely when attached to the climbing harness (climbing, glacier crossing, alpine touring etc) as it does when attached to the hipbelt.
Gear loops and chalk bag are not covered by a wide hipbelt, making them easier to access. This enhances both comfort and safety on the climb, in addition to saving on the extra weight of a hipbelt.
Backpacks with AnatomicNT guarantee a safe fit and stability on any terrain. The structure on the Tergo Pads keeps the back optimally ventilated and evenly distributes the weight of the load.
A torsion- flexible backplate evenly distributes the load over the entire back on the hipbelt,: preventing inner pressure caused by the pack, deformation against the back and reducing the strain of carrying a fully loaded pack.
The individually welded Tergo Pads do not absorb moisture and are positioned along the line of the spine. This allows the pack to adjust to the back without pressure and at the same time permit air to circulate freely through the channels; keeping the back maximally dry even during strenuous activities.
The F.L.A.S.H. shoulder strap adjustment lets you continuously adjust the length of the straps with a pull loop.
The strap lengths can be individually adjustment to fit your torso size - so the pack fits perfectly, especially essential when involved in high motion activities.
Benefits:
* The body-contact back ensures that the backpack fits safely and stably during all activities
* The Tegro Pad padding provides best possible ventilation of the back
* The continuously variable shoulder strap adjustment with F.L.A.S.H. NT makes it possible to perfectly adjust the backpack to individual torso length

For weight minimalists and all those counting the ounces of their pack, a suspension system with a body hugging fit and Tergo Pad construction (see Anatomic NT).
Ultralight materials and a focus on the essential features has made it possible to reach an extremely low weight.
The backplate is removable allowing the entire pack to be then stowed in its own top lid compartment.
Advantages:
* Ultralight
* Extremely small pack size
For activities on changing terrains, this suspension system can be adjusted to offer a close fitting, body contact back (on demanding hikes) when needed.
The tension of the mesh panel is regulated by a pull strap mechanism.
Large Panel Distance: full ventilation eg when backpacking uphill
Small Panel Distance: stable, body hugging fit
For activities with small to moderate loads, in which carrying in comfort is important, hiking short trekking etc.
The new suspension system was developed based on the knowledge gained from an ergonomic study. The erganomic suspension system adjusts itself flexibly to the anatomical features and movement of the wearer's back and distributes the weight evenly over the back and hips.
The back panel is flexible in one direction and was constructed to adjust to the wearer's movements. It has flexible zones in the shoulders and upper mid back area, which is where the majority of the backpack load is carried. In motion intensive activities such as mountain biking, the Erganomic panel lies flat against the back because it adjusts to the curvature of the back.
This is an innovative adjustment mechanism for precision fitting of the backpack shoulder strap length. A direct adjustment of the shoulder straps while the backpack is being worn enables a nearly perfect fit of the shoulder strap length to the wearer's torso size and shape.
Turn the ratchet mechanism to shorten a tension mechanism at the back of the suspension system. The straps, redirected through the back panel, are pulled downward and shortened. In order to lengthen the straps again, just loosen the ratchet and pull the backpack gently downward.
Advantages
* pressure-free distribution of the load over the entire back
* Flexible fit of the torsion flex back panel to differently shaped backs
* Effective ventilation thanks to the position of the Tergo Pads
* The continuous adjustment rotary mechanism enables a direct fit of the shoulder straps while carrying the loaded pack
The inner aluminum frame provides dimensional stability to the back construction and supports load distribution onto the hipbelt.
A pull mechanism on the back sllows one to quickly and easily adjust the shoulder strap length to fit the torso length of the wearer.
The hipbelt is anatomically formed for comfortable load carriage and distribution on the hips, helping to eliminate pressure points while carrying.
Advantages
* Inner aluminum frame offers uniform distribution
* Optimum load distribution on the hipbelt
SENSOFIL consists of three fibre layers of different weights and fibre thicknesses.
The outer layer is made from a robust hollow fiber that retains warm air. These hollow fibers retain more warm air; cold air cannot come into the bag through convection.
The middle fiber layer forms a somewhat denser staple fiber that provides high thermal insulation in that it retains the warm air.
The inner layer is a silicon coated microfibre that moves moisture quickly away from the body and reflects the body's thermal radiation.
Advantages
* Optimal ratio of thermal rating to weight
* Comfortable microclimate thanks to fast moisture transport
* dries fast, easy care
SENSOFIBER is a special microfiber that reflects body heat of the sleeping person. Heat loss due to radiation is very low due to this property. The fine fiber structure of SENSOFIBER quickly transports moisture outward. This helps to create a comfortable microclimate inside the sleeping bag for a good night's sleep. Like all synthetic fibers , SENSOFIBER insulates when wet, dries quickly, is long lasting, durable and uncomplicated to maintain.
Our sleeping bags with SENSOFIBER feature an especially attractive price to performance ratio.
The Suspension System is a sleeping bag construction that consists of three different layers:
1. A microfiber layer next to the body. This layer reflects body warmth and prevents heat loss via radiation. 2. A woven 3D baffle construction. This layer creates a chamber system that retains warm air and increase insulation between the inner and outer layers. 3. The outer 3D fiber layer is structured to retain heat. Cold air cannot enter the bag through conduction.
By using this specialized construction, Vaude are able to take 10% off the weight of comparable synthetic fiber bags.
Two-side siliconized material makes our tents extremely lightweight- up to 35% lighter than PU coated materials- while increasing wind and weather resistance at the same time.
Despite its low weight, this material has excellent tensile strength. Withstanding up to 78N compared to PU coated polyester materials 13N
Another advantage is the high UV resistance of the material. UV rays damage nylon fabrics. Tents that are exposed to high UV radiation over time age very quickly. Silicon protects our tents ripstop nylon from UV radiation, significantly increasing tent durability.
Rain is not absorbed into the fabric but rather beads up on the outer surface and runs off or evaporates.
SEAM SEAL is a specialized seam sealing technique developed by Vaude. Tents with SEAM SEAL technology are factory seam sealed and are 100% waterproof- an additional sealing of the seams by hand is no longer necessary.
Tents with MARK construction design are distinguishable by their extremely simple set up. 3 simple elements.
The tent (inner and outer) is hung onto the fixation element. The elastic cord is fixed in every second fixation element with a grommet. The other fixation elements consists of hooks in which the cord- wrapped over the pole is hung.
This construction design makes the tent possible to set up in under 3 minutes- even for inexperienced users!
